Melaka state government fully supports the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ position in RUU 668, wishes

Followed by the recent tabling and passing of RUU 668 which amends the definition of youths under Registrar of Youth (ROY) from 40 to 30 years old, the Melaka government expresses its support for the move by the Youth and Sports Ministry. There has been lengthy debates on whether the move was necessary among youth bodies since the previous government. This means that this is a youth issue beyond politics and should be supported by those who want to see reforms in our national

The First AIoT Platform of Malaysia Formed in Melaka

Today, a collaboration took place between UTeM, MMU, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Telekom Malaysia (TM) and Jabatan Belia dan Sukan Melaka (JBS). We have officially formed a platform named the Melaka Artificial Intelligence of Things (MAIoT). Internet of things (IoT) is no longer something we are unfamiliar with. We understand what IoT can do to our lives, where important data can be gathered via innovative ways, enhancing not just our everyday h

Economy policies should be need-based, not race-based

It’s quite common to see wealth comparisons being made between races in Malaysia, but none of the comparisons has really been meaningful. Some perceive Malaysian Chinese as wealthy and the Malays poor. However the fact is that majority of Malaysian Chinese are working class. According to the 2016 data from the Department of Statistics, the proportion of working class amongst Malaysian Chinese and Malays are largely similar (Malaysian Chinese = 70%; Malays =72%). Disparity a

What the "Nasi Lemak graduates" need is a turning point

What Tun Dr Mahathir said about graduates in Malaysia becoming Uber drivers and Nasi Lemak sellers tells us something about the economy state we are in right now. It is of course not to be misunderstood that Uber drivers or nasi lemak sellers are jobs that no graduates should take up. But we are talking about a situation where graduates in Malaysia face difficulty in getting jobs that match their level of skills or academic level, hence are forced to take up jobs that require

What makes a political force viable

[ This article refers to a news on The Malaysian Insight titled “Youth can be a political force without relying on parties, claims movement”. ] https://www.themalaysianinsight.com/s/28019/ We see an interesting phenomenon today. A handful of Malaysians (majority of whom are young) are seriously contemplating to either abstain from voting, cast spoilt vote or vote for the so-called “third force”. Common reasonings for doing so include “there is a lack of policies in Pakatan Ha

Joint article : “What Say Youth” Townhall – The Untold Stories of the Few

Much has been said about the “What Say Youth”Townhall that took place on the 21st of November which featured two political heavyweights – Tun Dr Mahathir and Mr Lim Kit Siang. Most, if not all that has been said showed that many are sceptical to Pakatan Harapan’s formation or, more precisely, its leaders. Were those stories that appeared on media representative of what happened at the Youth Townhall? To a certain extent, admittedly so. But allow us to tell you the stories of

What do you think will happen when you abstain from voting? Neither side forms the government?

In the 13th general election in May 2013, there were 11.2 million out of 13.2 million registered voters who casted their vote, which represented an 85% turnout. The turnout was unprecedented in all Malaysia’s past general elections and the opposition’s result in the election was also unprecedented. The opposition was however unable to form government albeit obtaining a 51% popular vote due to gerrymandering. Barisan Nasional, with 47% popular vote, managed to form the governm

    我指的是2017年9月23日,网络版马来邮报上的一篇文章“Disenchanted by blurred lines, some middle-class youths to sit out GE14” 这篇文章收集了关于希盟的几个观点和看法。

GE13 - We are all winners

May 5th 2013 is a meaningful day for Malaysia. It's a day where many Malaysians cried. But we all are the winners of this election. All of us. Some say elections make Malaysians divisive. I would say it brings us together, different ideology but same goal, stronger than ever. I have seen people who did not know the difference between parliament and DUN talked about two party system. I have seen people who couldn't care less about who the opposition leaders are talked about wh
