I am pleased to share with all of you that the Pakatan Harapan leadership has announced me as the DUN candidate for Ayer Keroh, Melaka (N-16). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Ayer Keroh state seat was never a safe seat for DAP - it was first won by DAP in 2008 and successfully defended in 2013. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In 2013, DAP achieved the best results ever in the Ayer Keroh state seat by having close to 8000 majority votes. However, when the redelineation exercise was passed in Parliament in March 2018, Ayer Keroh was one of the state seats in Melaka that was targeted and affected. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a result, 3 districts were cut out - Taman Merdeka, Melaka Baru, and Batu Berendam, with more than 12,000 voters being shifted to another DUN seat under Kota Melaka. The 3 affected areas were the key areas that contributed to the victory of DAP in DUN Ayer Keroh in the past elections. Hence, for GE14, DUN Ayer Keroh has became a 50/50 seat, or what people would usually call a “grey seat”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ DAP had faced numerous defeats in the past, and will never back down in the face of setbacks. Especially when Melaka is one of the states that we believe will see a change in government. For that to happen, we have to capture the hearts of all Malaccans, regardless of race, religion and creed, and win the key seats - Ayer Keroh is definitely one of them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My greatest gratitude to DAP by trusting my ability and placing me in one of the key battlefields of Melaka and represent the youth voice in politics. It will be my greatest honour to be part of the movement in bringing hope to people from not only Ayer Keroh but even Melaka and throughout Malaysia. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I will fight hard so that I can contribute to the party’s and Pakatan Harapan’s dream of creating a better Malaysia.
Melaka, change is coming. Are you ready?
