We should not be afraid to fire civil servants
Don’t get me wrong. It’s never in the Pakatan Harapan government’s wishlist to reduce the number of civil servants. At the very least, we are not dismissing any civil servant for the sake of reducing their numbers. However, 4 months into administration, I have no reservation in opining that the way forward in reforming how our government works is to make governance work. It’s true that Pakatan Harapan has been voted in as the federal government, as well as the state governmen

A New Beginning
Millions of Malaysians burst into tears in the late night of 9 May 2018. Many, including myself, couldn’t believe our eyes when we learned of the news: We are changing the federal government of Malaysia for the first time in history. There have been too many occasions in the past where I heard people were on the brink of giving up on Malaysia. When jobs were scarce, wages were suppressed, crime rates were high, corruption was condoned, and hatred was fanned, the government wa

Hi, I'm Kerk Chee Yee, candidate for DUN Ayer Keroh
Hi, I’m Kerk Chee Yee, and I’m contesting for DUN Ayer Keroh, Melaka in this election. Many looked at me with disbelief when they learnt that someone my age (born in the 90s) is contesting. In the past, we did not have a lot of young people who were interested in politics, let alone getting involved directly by joining political parties and standing for elections. But contributing to our home is everyone’s responsibility. I consider Melaka my home as I was born and raised her

The audacity to imagine
I was given the chance to speak at a DAP dinner in Triang, Pahang and that was when I first spoke about the audacity to imagine.
All conscious actions start with a seed of idea and the seed of idea must be accompanied by imagination. It is then dependent on the judgement, will, and determination of the person to translate the ideas and imagination into action. Just like how it takes courage to act, it takes courage to imagine too.
Occasionally I tell people jokingly that
